Yes, this is the norm, and your future guests expect to see your beautiful engagement photos on their wedding invitations or Save the Dates to your Boise wedding. And hello, this is a fun date! Our complimentary E-sessions give us an opportunity to have some beautiful images for wedding invites and announcements. We also get to know each other in a fun and relaxing environment that Boise and the Treasure Valley have to offer and help you become comfortable in front of the camera before your big day. I can then get a sense on what you like and how I can best document the most important day of your life!
Prior to your session, we will have a consultation and discuss locations and wardrobe. This can be an outing in nature, re-creating your first date, or something more formal. Boise and the Treasure Valley offer so much variety with so many beautiful and fun spots! If you’re needing inspiration, I’m happy offer suggestions! I absolutely love e-sessions and have included horseback rides, canoeing, hiking, etc. Don’t be afraid to consider something unique! These are the best sessions, whether it's biking downtown Boise, hiking the foothills, strolling the greenbelt, going to a museum or landmark, your favorite restaurant, or having one of the many adventures the Treasure Valley has to offer. Whatever you choose, this should be fun and reflect you and reflect your style and personalities. Bring anything that adds a personal touch!
Sometimes I think I love engagement photos more than I love the wedding photos! They are just so beautiful and so....YOU! They are wonderful to have on your walls as a newlywed couple, add in your wedding album, and my favorite, to create a guestbook. I love creating a photo/guestbook album that your guests can "oooh! and aaahhh!" over as they leave their notes of love and well wishes for you to enjoy for the rest of your lives, alongside your wedding album. You never know where life will take you, and you will likely always feel a sense of love and longing for the Boise area, should you ever leave in your many adventures together.
You may have been shopping around Boise or the Treasure valley for a wedding photographer and get more confused the more you compare. Wedding Photography is generally one of the more expensive items on your list of services and sometimes it can be hard to know what to consider or look for when hiring a photographer beyond price comparisons. It can also be easier to cut costs with the wedding photography. Here are some things to consider: Your Beautiful Wedding Images are a result of Tools, Time, and Talent. If your photographer is lacking in any of these areas, it will definitely show in the quality of your wedding album/images.
A professional photographer will rarely offer ‘shoot and burn’ coverage on a CD. Shoot and burn is a term in the industry that describes someone who will shoot the wedding and then directly copy them onto a disk for the couple. Often these images sit in a drawer, never to be printed or put on a wall or album to be enjoyed. Sometimes they are not worth showing on a wall, which is so unfortunate, as you can never ‘re-do' your wedding photographs. A professional will take the time to train themselves before the wedding in photography, lighting, posing, editing, and processing beautiful art that you can and will be proud to showcase in a beautiful quality wedding album and/or hang on your wall. They have the experience to know how to create beautiful images under a wide variety of circumstances. They have equipment that can compensate for poor lighting situations, either harsh shadows or sunlight Boise can be known for, rain, wind, etc. They have the equipment to handle the large RAW files that are necessary for maximum creative abilities in a professional editing program. They must work quickly and efficiently to get the necessary photos in the least amount of time possible. This requires assistants who understand and can help with shooting and with the camera and lighting equipment. There are several highly talented and professional wedding photographers in the Boise Treasure Valley area to choose from! Having a contract that lays out what you are paying for, when you will receive your goods, and what your (and your photographers') rights and responsibilities is a must have! When the cake has been eaten and the dress put away, your wedding images are what will be enjoyed for generations.
Generally, about 50-100 photos are delivered for every hour of photo coverage. That may seem like a lot of photos, but every detail of your wedding is being photographed and we don’t want to miss a thing! Because we shoot in RAW format, our equipment is handling a large volume of very large files. We then go through all of these and cull duplicate photos, any blinking photos, etc. We make sure they are all color adjusted and cropped to be the most aesthetically appealing. We then do edits to make sure skin is clear, eyes and teeth are bright. We will also choose a few favorites to do more extensive and artistic enhanced edits. Of course, you are involved in choosing which images you ultimately want these special edits on and which images will be in your album. This is your story, your day, your memories!
Looking for a venue for your Boise or Treasure Valley wedding? Relax and read on...
The venue should be one of the first things you do when planning your wedding, as many of your other decisions and expenses are determined by what your venue will or won't provide. You don't want to spend a lot of time and money on table linens, for example, if it's provided through your venue. The details and amount of items you need add up really quickly, so you'll want to know how much to budget for these items. It's like which came first, the chicken or the egg! You can't know that until you know how much you'll be spending for some of the more expensive parts of your day, like your venue.
After doing some research, I've come up with some venues you may not have realized were even out there. Or maybe I missed some great options that you'd like to share? By the way, please do! I know finding a wedding in the Boise or Treasure Valley area can be one of the more nerve wracking crazy-making parts of planning your special day! The following links are in no particular order....
I previously wrote an article on what to consider and ask your potential venue when planning your Boise or Treasure Valley wedding. Hopefully that sparked some ideas and 'must haves' for your wedding or reception venue. and now that you have a list to some fabulous local Boise and Treasure valley venues, make sure and have your questions handy!
Best wishes and happy planning your beautiful day!

Are you looking for the perfect Boise wedding venue? You're not alone! Well, I've done my research and decided to share with more Boise brides.
Moving to Boise only a couple of years ago, not being super familiar with the area, I realized this has been a common challenge to my wedding brides...We are in a shortage of wedding venues here in the Treasure Valley! If you can get your venue figured out early on, the rest should all fall into place so much easier.
What are your experiences in searching for the right Treasure Valley wedding venue? What do you wish you had known? What problems did you avoid or (unfortunately) not avoid? What did you love about your Boise wedding and venue?
So, now that you're armed with the right questions and know what you want, where in the heck do you find your venue??
Actually, there are a LOT more than we realized!
There are so many wedding venue options in the Boise area, that I'll be creating a separate post this week. I'll post the link on our Facebook page.
Most of all, have a fabulous rest of your life with your sweetheart!

Hello and thanks for inquiring about portraits for your family! This is definitely something I take very seriously...family photos, probably more than any kind of photo, are more valuable and appreciated as time goes on. Having 5 of my own, and a few of them grown, makes me realize how fast it goes. Sigh...Anyhow, please view my site for examples of some of my sessions and look over packages and prices. There are all kinds of varieties of photographers, families, portrait styles, and budgets. I want you to have a great experience, and part of that is finding the right fit for you and your family. Together, we are creating highly personalized art of who you value and love most, beautifying your home. I understand the investment of time and money, and energy getting your family organized for your portraits. It's super important I get this right!
Half of my job happens before you ever arrive for your shoot, during a consultation. I need to blow you out of the water with your images and planning ahead is a huge part of that. First, it really helps to know where you will be displaying your images. I am happy to come to your home, it will take as little as 5 minutes. I will take photos of this space and use this image after your shoot is completed to then create digital displays of your portraits in that space. I have great software that I use. We use this so you can see whether you want a vertical image, horizontal, a large portrait, a collage, framed, unframed, canvas, metal prints, and in what size/s, etc. You looking at your images, in your home, sized and placed perfectly....all digitally, before we ever place your order! Pretty cool, huh? Second, we can even plan your wardrobe so your images most compliment your living space. Third, if you haven't already seen my products, I'm happy to bring samples so you can see and touch in order to give you an idea of products you like most.
What a fun and craazyyy day! I can't believe everything we fit into this day and still came out with such beautiful images! Sam is one busy busy momma! She had an appt in the morning, her daughter's 5 year birthday party, hair and makeup session, family photo shoot (minus hubby, as this was a surprise for him!), a beauty shoot (part of her surprise for hubby), and then a party in the evening. She pulled it all off, of course, being the superwoman she is. We were even able to hide the fact that one of her poor sweeties was super sick and feeling horrible. Can you tell which one? She must be like her mom, and able to push through and get things done, no matter what. All this, and we were able to get all of her products to her before the next weekend after her shoot! What a gorgeous model! Thank you to Charity Fales for the beautiful makeover; beautiful job!
I love the message she sent saying how much her husband loved the images, he was completely surprised and blown away. What a compliment, coming from her husband, who is an extremely talented photographer himself.
So this was a fun craaazy day! Sam and I decided to really test ourselves as superwomen on this day. She had mom duties she didn't want to interrupt of kids swimming lessons, an appointment, a birthday party for 6 adorable little girls, and a get together later that night. No problem to wiggle in a couple of photo shoots into her day, right?? Haha! We pulled it off, getting a glamour shoot, a family shoot, and a little mini shoot for her daughter in, not to mention that we also did mini photo shoots and video for the birthday party. And the sad fact that one of her daughters Grace, also got sick, which was super sad because she missed a good portion of the fun at the birthday and you can imagine how she felt about posing for family pictures, poor thing! Normally I strongly suggest using this shoot as a time to slow down, pamper yourself, and get in touch with your beautiful feminine side with a low key evening out with your sweetheart, but I'm pretty dang proud that we juggled it all and got such beautiful photos of Sam and her kids to give her husband on Father's Day just a week later. And isn't that just so typical of a mom and wife, trying to fit it all in and totally knocking it all off her list?! I love that she reported back how choked up he got when he saw the photos (well, yes, I can see that....he has a beautiful family and obviously knows how blessed he is!). He is an extremely talented photographer, so that means even more to me. Big thank you to Charity Fales, Hair and Makeup Artist. First time working with her and didn't she do a great job?! And if you're curious about the party, (or ever in the need for a carefree pampering princess party for the mini you in your life), check out the video of Parlez Vous Parties that made her daughter's birthday party so carefree that she was able to accomplish so many other things that day. Here's the FB Page if you're interested in having a beautiful fairy garden birthday party for your princess.
What a gorgeous family! They wanted a light, airy, soft family outdoor portrait. I think we nailed it, but I just couldn't resist
taking some indoor studio portraits as well, which I love just as much! Which do you like best? Eric is a local dentist (awesome dentist) and needed a headshot, so that saved him from having another separate shoot!
Portrait sessions come with in home home design consultation. I'll check out the colors/style of your room/home, placement, and then we plan wardrobe, sizes of portraits, combinations of portraits, etc. So, when we start your shoot, we will know beforehand which sizes/orientations/number/combinations you need for your home. Of course we also get plenty of other images for albums as well. We then place the images we took of your family on your 'digital photo wall' of your home to see what images and sizes look like in your home before we order. Kindof a dress rehearsal before you order. Nifty, huh?
OK, so my daughters and I are terribly jealous of Tessa's flawless skin. Totally flawless…. this is where I can't help but say the obvious. The camera LOVES this girl. We had FUN taking the top down on my 68 Mustang and chasing the sunset. We made it! Whew, it was a close call though. Thank you Tessa for letting me be your photographer! Best wishes to you in Washington. Make wonderful memories and enjoy every minute of it! Hair and makeup and assistance by Chantelle Hyland. She is fabulous. Seriously. Thanks also to my assistant Brooke.
